Things to do in Ibiza in April and May

More and more travellers prefer to enjoy the joys of Ibiza in April and May, when the island is waking up and the pleasant temperatures are perfect for outdoor activities. If you’re coming over this spring, find out what to do in Ibiza in April and May!

What’s Ibiza like in spring?

The White Island is an appealing destination for travellers who seek a few days’ break with nature at the forefront, as its mild weather makes it perfect for hiking, cycling, diving, kayaking, fishing, horseback riding and golf. You can even enjoy wonderfully refreshing swims in the sea! The average temperature in April ranges between 17ºC and 10ºC, while in May it’s between 23ºC and 14ºC.

Apart from the temperatures, the landscape leaves behind the winter austerity to start blooming inland and it turns greener with fig trees and almond trees all dressed up in their splendid foliage. On the coast, coves and beaches are the perfect setting for picnics, reading a book while listening to the waves, practising yoga in the sun and, especially in May, swimming or doing water sports.

Plans in Ibiza for April and May

If you visit the island in April or May, you’ll get the chance to enjoy some of the best spring plans in Ibiza, from sports events to cultural activities. Book your room or suite at Hotel Ánfora (we’re reopening on April 18th), take note of our suggestions and make the most of your spring break.

Browse the stalls of hippy street markets

In April and May, you can already browse the stalls of the most famous hippy street markets in Ibiza: Las Dalias and Punta Arabí. In spring, the former is set up near Sant Carles on Saturdays, whereas the latter is set up in Es Canar on Wednesdays. If you’re staying at Hotel Ánfora, don’t forget to go to Punta Arabí, as it’s only an 8-minute walk.

Follow the Cultural Route by bike

Rent a bike and explore the sites that best represent the village of Santa Eulária combining all or part of the bike trails #1, #5, #7, #10, #11 and #12. There are 14 stops in total, including churches, old country houses, wells, watch towers and other elements of the traditional Ibizan architecture; as well as the typical farming landscape and the only river in the Balearic islands. visitsantaeulalia.com/es/pueblos-y-patrimonio/ruta-cultural

Have fun up a tree

If you're travelling with kids, you’ll love the zipline circuits at the Acrobosc leisure park in the pine woods of Cala Pada. They have three different circuits for different ages and you can combine this with water sports on the beach nearby. Acroboscibiza.com

Take part in a hierbas ibicencas workshop

If you want to discover the secrets of this traditional Ibizan liquor, sign up for the workshops offered by the craft company Fluxà. If this workshop isn’t available during your holiday, ask us and we’ll suggest other experiences. Fluxaibiza.com

Explore Dalt Vila on a themed walk

This year, the citadel of Ibiza is celebrating its 25th anniversary as a Unesco World Heritage site. Explore it (or revisit) by joining a themed walk around its streets and city walls. Turismo.eivissa.es

Go kayaking along the eastern coast of Ibiza

Check the Water Activities Guide (Guía de Actividades del Mar) to find out about suggested kayaking routes and explore the coast of Santa Eulària des Riu at your own pace and level. It will be a fabulous experience!

Try the bullit de peix

In April you can already eat this traditional fish stew with a rice dish at El Bigotes, one of the most extraordinary beach bars in Ibiza, which is only a few minutes’ drive from Hotel Ánfora. Other restaurants nearby that also serve bullit de peix are Fonda Pou des Lleó, Salvadó, Martina, Can Pep Salvador and Ca na Ribes.

Go sailing on a traditional boat

Lläut is the name given to the traditional fishing boat you’ll spot in Ibiza and other Balearic islands. Nowadays, you can book outings on one of these boats for several hours and the boat owner will show you the most breath-taking spots on the coast. If you’d like to do this, email us and we’ll help you book this sea experience.

Start the day with a Yoga or Pilates class

If you're staying at Hotel Ánfora, from April 18th, you’ll have the chance to join our free Yoga and Pilates classes four times a week on alternate days. We haven’t yet closed our events calendar, but we’ll announce all our latest news on Instagram and Facebook.

Learn about Ibiza’s ancient traditions

April and May are two excellent months to find about the island’s rich heritage, as you won't be lazing on a relaxing beach all day. If you’d like to start the day with culture, visit Puig de Missa in Santa Eulària to see its church and the Ethnographic Museum of Ibiza Can Ros, in a traditional old country house called a casa payesa.

Explore the area in a tour train

Kids love this plan and it’s convenient for a first tour of the northern part of Ibiza. From April until October, there are different routes depending on where you’re going from and the theme. You can catch the train from Es Canar, Sant Miquel or Portinatx. trenibizaexpress.com
