Bring your competitive side to Ibiza this spring!

Sports competitions in Ibiza have become more and more popular over the years, attracting both national and international participants, especially in the spring, when some of the best known races colour the sports calendar in Ibiza.

In April and May you’ll find, also on the eastern coast of Ibiza, several scored events and competitions that are a great reason to hop over to the White Island. Also, direct flights between Ibiza and the main airports in Spain and Europe are resumed in spring, so you’re bound to find the easiest connection to the island for you.

And lastly, another good reason to come to Ibiza this spring is the mild weather that provides perfect temperatures for vigorous exercise and outdoor competitions: the average temperature in April is no higher than 17ºC and no lower than 10ºC and in May it goes no higher than 23ºC and doesn’t drop under 14ºC.

Ibiza Mountain Bike Tour

Although this year it falls on 29th-31st March, we want to include this race in this post as there are years when it’s held in April. This mountain bike race is an absolute must on Ibiza’s sports calendar, so if you're into mountain bikes, we encourage you to come and take part in it in the coming years. www.ibizabtt.com

  Santa Eulària Ibiza Marathon

Next 13th April is the Santa Eulària Ibiza Marathon, a massive sports event that brings in more and more runners every year. It’s an afternoon event and starts at the old harbour in the city of Ibiza and ends at the Santa Eulària des Riu promenade. This is the biggest race on the island and it’s divided into two races: 22k and 12k. ibizamarathon.com

 Ibiza Half-Marathon

Validated by the Spanish Royal Federation of Athletics, this 21k race is included in the Spanish calendar as International I category. It takes place on 20th April with about 1,000 runners and starts in the village of Sant Josep and ends in the city of Ibiza. ibizamediamaraton.com

Sports events in June

Ultraswim

This race is on the last Saturday of May or first Saturday of June and it’s organised by the Nautical Club of Santa Eulalia. In 2024, the event will be held on 1st June with two wild swimming races: the original 30k stretch between Formentera and Ibiza and the 5k stretch between Cala Llonga and Santa Eulària. clubnauticosantaeulalia.com

Visit the Nautical Fair

This sailing event will take place from 18th till 21st April in the Santa Eulària marina. An event for those passionate about sailing who wish to find out about all the latest news and products at the different stands: boats, engines, accessories, charterers...

Hire a bike to explore inland

Ride through the Ibizan countryside and explore some of the most iconic sites inland following the cyclotourism routes available in the municipality of Santa Eulària des Riu. You can choose easier or harder routes, and even split the Cultural Route into several stretches as it overlaps with routes 1, 5, 7, 10, 11 and 12 at different points.

Explore Ibiza’s coast by kayak

Both the western and eastern coasts of Ibiza are perfect for kayaking. Depending on the wind direction that day, you may prefer one coast or the other. Around Es Canar and Hotel Ánfora, you’ll find several beautiful routes, like the one that links des Figueral beach to Pou des Lleó. Ask us and we’ll help you hire this activity.

Explore Ibiza underwater

Near Es Canar you’ll find diving companies who offer courses for the PADI certificate, as well as trips to the most interesting dives on the eastern coast in Ibiza. Depending on your experience, you’ll find several routes that you’ll love. Also, the warm water temperatures, mean you can do this sport in spring too.
