Is it a good idea to choose Ibiza for the family holidays?
It’s not the first time we encourage our guests to enjoy the island with their kids. In our previous post, 5 Plans to Enjoy Ibiza with Kids we already shared some suggestions to have a great time with the youngest, such as sliding on a zip line between trees, exploring caves or visiting an organic farm. But besides these suggestions, there are many other reasons that make this island a very appealing destination for families.
Are beaches in Ibiza kid-friendly?
One of the main appeals of the island is its beaches, especially if you’re travelling with your family. Most beaches and coves in Ibiza are very safe for kids, as the swell heads towards the beach and the slopes into the sea are gentle. Many look like natural pools! Some of these beaches are the Es Canar beach (home to Hotel Ánfora), Portinatx, Cala Bassa, Cala Llenya, Cala Llonga, the beach of Es Figueral, Cala Benirrás and the beach of Santa Eulària des Riu, the first beach in the Balearic Islands to be declared a Smoke-Free Beach… Practically all beaches on the island have a lifeguard service and many also have restaurants and boat and water-sports services.
What can you do in Ibiza with kids?
Besides the suggestions mentioned above, there are loads of options to enjoy a fun holiday with your family in Ibiza. You can go horse riding inland, explore the coast in a kayak, learn to sail, join game and craft workshops organised at the different hippy street markets on the island, visit the aquarium with its native species, go for a themed walk through the old part of the city of Ibiza with stories about pirates, legends and conquests, go on a boat trip, go on fun-fair rides, go snorkelling... If you’d like more information on these or other family-oriented activities in Ibiza, please enquire at our front desk.
Any other original plans for kids?
One of the most interesting kid-friendly events in Ibiza is the Barruguet Family Theatre Festival that takes place in Santa Eulària des Riu during the last weekend in May. For three days, the Teatro España, the Palau de Congressos, the Sala de Exposiciones and the main streets in this town become home to 20 family shows, some of them based on body language, so that foreigners get the chance to enjoy them too. The Medieval Fair in Ibiza, the local fiestas of the first Sunday in May in Santa Eulària des Riu or the local fiestas in Es Canar, are also a good time to enjoy your family holidays in Ibiza.
Isn’t Ibiza a clubbing destination?
Ibiza is such a diverse destination that its nightlife is mostly limited to a few places on the island. In fact, it’s very easy to enjoy an entire holiday week in Ibiza without finding out where its most famous nightclubs are. Our modern 4-star hotel with swimming pool next to Es Canar beach is on the eastern coast of Ibiza, which is usually devoted to family or active tourism. The junior suites and suites at Hotel Ánfora are ideal for family trips and we have two areas designed for our youngest guests: a PlayStation area with 2 consoles and a Kids zone that has many games for the little ones.
