What makes Cala Boix so special?
This beach is 120m long and 15m wide and it’s the only cove with black sand in Ibiza, which urges us to give you a useful tip you’ll be grateful for: don’t take your shoes off until you’re close to the water! It’s in a fold of the eastern coast of Ibiza, near Cala Mastella, and it’s after the village of Sant Carles.
You will like Cala Boix if...
- You've hired a car or a motorbike, as it’s the only way to get to this cove. It takes less than 15 minutes to get to this quiet spot from our 4-star hotel in Es Canar.
- If you like coves without buildings. Cala Boix only has a simple, typical beach bar. And next to the parking lot, two restaurants serving traditional food: La Noria and Cala Boix.
- You’re looking for a family atmosphere, as Cala Boix is popular among families and couples who want to spend a pleasant, quiet day on the beach. It has a life lifeguard and a very gentle slope into the sea, which makes it very safe for kids.
Cala Boix: our advice
It’s best to give it a miss if you’re travelling with reduced mobility persons as access to the beach is down a very steep ramp.
A different plan
Alternatively, you can get to Cala Boix with the free guided walks organised by the town council of Santa Eularia des Riu and they always include a walk that stops at this beach. The walks planned for the 2019 season that stop at Cala Boix will be next 15th August (night walk) and 2nd November (10 a.m.) both starting from Canal d’en Martí.
