The White Island is a fabulous place if you love walking, as the diverse orography provides trails for all levels, for occasional walkers to advanced hikers. Once the scorching summer temperatures have dropped, it’s the perfect time for walks in Ibiza, from early autumn until late spring.
October, November, April and May are the best months to combine walks and beach, as the mild temperature means you can enjoy a refreshing swim after the hike. And if you go for a walk on a sunny winter day, the coves and beaches on these walks are perfect for a seaside picnic in Ibiza.
5 walks in Santa Eulària and its surrounding area
From Hotel Ánfora you can easily walk to two of the hiking trails in Santa Eulària des Riu (Santa Eulalia del Río) that begin and end on a beach. To all the other walks, it’s only a 9 to 17 km drive, so you can get walking in no time. All these trails are circular, so you’ll always end up back at your car or motorbike.
Walks from the hotel
Es Canar Trail (#1)
This 12.2 km trail takes about 3 hours and is good for medium-level hikers. From the hotel, it first goes inland, taking your through the countryside of Sant Carles before heading on to the coast. Besides stopping by Cala Llenya and Cala Nova, the trail passes by Las Dalias Hippy Market (remember this if you’re going on a Saturday), the church in Sant Carles, the Font de Peralta fountain and the Ca n’Andreu des Trull house-museum.
Santa Eulària – Es Canar Trail (#12)
You can take this walk from Hotel Ánfora. It’s nearly nearly 13 km and takes you to the village of Santa Eulària (Santa Eulalia) on a pleasant trail that’s suitable for all levels. As for the beaches and coves, you’ll find five! Cala Martina, Cala Pada, S’Argamassa, Es Niu Blau and Santa Eulària. So you won’t be short of options for a swim or a snack by the sea. Trails you can drive to from the hotel
Es Figueral Trail (#7)
North of Es Canar you’ll find Es Figueral beach, where this high-difficulty hike begins and ends. It’s 19 km and takes about 4 hours, and you do need to be quite fit to cope with the steep slopes. Most of the track is inland, except for a stretch along the coast where you can go for a swim in Canal d’en Martí and Pou des Lleó.
Cala Llonga Trail (#3)
You can stop for a swim and rest at Salt d’en Serrá, Cala Olivera or Cala Llonga along this beautiful walk, which is nearly 10 km long and of medium difficulty. It takes about 2.5 hours, but remember that the slopes become steeper towards the end, so don’t run out of energy before time!
Jesús Trail (#10)
Midway along this medium-difficulty 11.25 km trail you’ll reach the sea, specifically Cala Espart and S’Estanyol. If you like snorkelling and it’s nice weather, take a break here and get your goggles out of the rucksack!
