You don’t have to be a regular hiker to leave your car parked (or simply not rent one) during your holidays and enjoy pleasant walks that will take you to lovely beaches where you’ll want to spend the morning, afternoon or an entire day. In fact, it’s such a short distance between Es Canar and Cala Nova and Cala Llenya that you can visit all three in a day. If you’d like to do this, walk along all or part of this route depending on how you feel that day.
The three beaches route
Es Canar: for the beginning or end of the day
Es Canar beach, only 300m away from Hotel Ánfora, offers all the services and comforts you could wish for to spend a pleasant, fun day on the beach, as it has a vast offer of restaurants, but you can also hire a pedalo, canoe or a small motorboat. With nice pedestrian areas and fun areas for kids, it’s ideal for a family beach day. From the northern end, there’s a footbridge that leads to Cala Nova, the next cove on your beach day in Ibiza.
Cala Nova: a beach with character
Following the trail from Es Canar along the coastline, you’ll walk no more than a kilometre before you get to this 350m long beach with its relaxed, diverse vibe. Given its position, the Levante wind tends to bring cooler temperatures to this beach, but it also causes waves. Depending on the day, it will feel like a natural pool with crystal-clear waters or a beach to have fun with the waves.
If you’re planning to eat at Cala Nova, you can choose between several restaurants, from Can Colomaret, your typical beach bar, to picturesque beach restaurants, like Aiyanna Ibiza. And if you want to resume the route, there’s a trail setting off from the northern end of the cove, by the beach bar, that will take you to Cala Llenya.
Cala Llenya, a vast beach for everyone
This beach is adapted for people with reduced mobility and is 1.2km from Cala Nova. It’s at the end of a trail that rises 50m before dropping down to the beach, across the headland that separates Cala LLenya from Cala Nova. Cala Llenya is 200m long and up to 110m wide in the middle. It offers peace and quiet in a relaxed atmosphere. The seabed conditions make it perfect for snorkelling. If you get hungry, there’s a beach bar on the cove serving salads, sandwiches and hamburgers and the residential area nearby has two restaurants: Cala Llenya and Restaurante Ca’n Pep.
On foot or by bike
This walk can be as short as we’ve already suggested, just over 2km each way but you can also make it longer by following the 12km circular route (No. 1), which you can start from the very door of our hotel to then go along the country landscape of Sant Carles, passing by Cala Llenya and Cala Nova, Las Dalias Hippy Market and the village of Sant Carles. If you hire a mountain bike, you can take the circular cyclotourism route (No. 5), which is a 25km high difficulty track that joins 11 beaches, including Es Canar, Cala Nova and Cala LLenya.
