Enjoy the most famous beaches now
For some regular visitors, the best time to lay on the busiest beaches is on the month of October (and even November). Beaches like Cala Bassa, Platges de Comte, Ses Salines, Cala Benirràs and Aigües Blanques are now much more enjoyable to travelers who seek calmness and a bit more space.
Discover Ibiza under a different light
On the next 13th and 14th October, there will take place, on the city of Ibiza, the second edition of the Ibiza Light Festival, a cultural project where emblematic places of the port and La Marina are transformed by light, video, sound and scenic art.
Join the dance on the well
Traditionally, the island celebrated the so called, ballades de pou I fonts, peasant dances around water wells and fountains that celebrated the end of the harvest and the patron saints’ days of each parish. Nowadays these rites are kept alive by the folkloric groups of the island, that keep celebrating these traditional dances. If you’re interested in joining them, this month you can hear their music in the Pou d’en Gatzara (7th October, near Santa Gestrudis), in the Pou d’en Nicolau (14th October in San Rafel), in the Pou de Forada (8th October near the Bar Can Tixedó) and in the Font d’en Xiquet (21st October, in Es Cubells).
Put on your boots
If you like trekking, don’t hesitate in bringing your sports shoes, as this month it’s very pleasant to explore the paths of the island. You can just follow the numerous trails tracing around Ibiza, or join the free guided tour that will be organized by the Sant Joan Townhall on the 12th October, a return itinerary between the village and the church of Sant Vicent de sa Cala (book through the telephone number + 34 626 481 724).
Reserve some time for contemporary art
This month is a good time to visit the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Ibiza (MACE). Waiting for you are three interesting temporary exhibitions (the one dedicated to Jim Hodges stands out) and the Art Projects Ibiza gallery that exhibits, until the end of the year, the conceptual work Asymmetrical Response, that explores the evolution of the relation of digital users with the internet network.
