A morning at the Hippy Market of Punta Arabí (Es Canar)
The Punta Arabí street market in Es Canar is on Wednesdays from May to October and from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. It’s one of the must-sees for Hotel Ánfora guests as it’s only 800m from the hotel. In other words, only a 10-minute walk. The 500 stalls at the Punta Arabí Hippy Market make up a unique walk of lanes and small squares where visitors will find countless shopping ideas as well as musicians, DJs, percussionists, street artists, actors, jugglers and human statues. In the central parts, you’ll also find bars, chill-out areas, a crèche and other areas with activities for kids. Enjoying a day at this street market in Es Canar is the ideal plan for travellers who wish to take home a piece of Ibiza’s essence or for families who wish to live a day full of discoveries.
Endless shopping a step away from Hotel Ánfora
At the many stalls in the Punta Arabí hippy street market you will find crafts made in Ibiza, as well as designs imported from remote countries but spiritually linked to the island, such as India, Thailand or Peru, to name a few. If you’re looking for a unique buy, the best thing is to get there really early, when it’s not yet hot and the streets are quiet and take a (long) stroll whilst browsing all the stalls to see if something catches your eye. This is certainly the best time to have a look at the crafts without crowds, chat to the creators and artists, share your opinions and enjoy the atmosphere with a coffee break. But if you would simply like to spend a fantastic day and absorb the atmosphere of this hippy stronghold, any time is good.
