For the sixth year in a row, Hotel Anfora shows its commitment to Ibizan art through the temporary exhibitions it hosts every year. From April to October, art will be welcoming guests and visitors to our lobby and lounge bar for them to enjoy and admire.
The island has been a source of creative inspiration since early 20th century when intellectuals and artists began to discover its landscapes, ethnographic richness and unique architecture. This tradition remains to this day and our hotel contributes to this cultural heritage by displaying the work of local artists who capture Ibiza’s essence in each piece.
Art exhibitions 2026: Ibiza-inspired creativity
Santa Eulària des Riu breathes in history and art and Hotel Anfora wishes to infuse your stay with this essence. For the sixth year in a row, and from 16th April until 26th October, we will turn our corridors and lounges into a live gallery where the island is the only muse: seven creators, who were either born or have put down roots in Ibiza, will encourage you to discover the Pityusic identity through their creativity. In all cases, the work displayed will be for sale, so if you fall in love with a specific work of art, go ahead and ask us and we’ll be happy to give you any information you need.
Antonio Hormigo: permanent exhibition
Once again, over the course of the summer, the Hotel Anfora lounge bar will display a selection of works created by Ibiza’s well-know modern sculptor who died in 2019. His wood carvings usually feature the human body and are always carved out of carefully chosen tree branches or trunks. He never killed a tree to create his art; it was the random shapes of the wood that determined his work.
Cristina Ferrer
16th April - 3rd June
Born in Ibiza, Cristina Ferrer this artist has 20 years’ experience in oil painting on Belgian linen canvas. Her personalised realistic style captures local folklore, fishing boats called llaüts, native wild flowers and other aspects of Ibiza and Formentera, the only territories featuring in her art. Every piece is unique: she takes photos of the subject and only paints one version of each picture. Having learnt from national and international masters, she now works from her studio surrounded by nature.
Ángel Zabala Guirao
4th June - 15th July
Born in Águilas (Murcia) in 1975 but living in Ibiza since 1982, Ángel Zabala his Ibiza-themed paintings show spontaneous strokes on a coloured background. His painting portray local places, characters, folklore and customs. Hotel Anfora will exhibit his paintings in different formats, from small to large paintings on canvas or paper, alongside his wire-mesh sculptures.
Antoni Marí "Tirurit"
16th July – 31st August
Tirurit combines his job as a teacher, which is his vocation, with his passion for art. Born in Eivissa in 1978, his work has featured in individual and group exhibitions on and off the island. He also works as an illustrator for teaching guides, posters and children’s books. His colourist naïve style captures the essence of Ibiza before it became a tourist destination and features smugglers, farmers, shepherds and children. For this exhibition titled “Tirurit, l'aventura d'il·lustrar la tradició” (Tirurit, the adventure of illustrating tradition) he will be displaying small watercolour illustrations on paper.
Puri Chaler
1st September – 30th September
Born in 1969 in the old town of Ibiza (Dalt Vila), Puri Chaler will be sharing her work for the first time through the “Érase una vez...” (Once upon a time...) exhibition. She isn’t a full-time painter but her work portrays the beauty of the island as she feels and sees it. Her oil paintings tell a story through the calm, harmony, nature and freedom provided by the passage of time.
Marta Torres
1st October – 26th October
The well-known Ibizan painter Marta Torres Marí will be showing her work under the title “Peregrinas: Ánfora & Buganvilla” a selection of paintings based on these deeply Mediterranean symbols that engage in conversation through this exhibition. Having graduated in Art from the University of Barcelona (1990) she has worked as a Curator for Ibiza’s Contemporary Art Museum and has been running her own gallery for 23 years.
She is known for her mastering of textures as she fuses painting with sculpture using sand, soil, branches from juniper trees, stones and old windows, among other materials. Her work has been displayed in Paris, London, Zurich, New York and Monaco, where she was especially complimented by Baroness Thyssen, who wrote the prologue for her book “Materias”. She has taken part in different international art fairs, like Art Rotterdam, Art Laren and Art Breda.
