Comprehensive Renovation and Energy Efficiency Improvements
In 2017, Anfora Ibiza Hotel underwent a complete renovation, upgrading from a 2-star to a 4-star hotel. During this transformation, several measures were taken to improve energy efficiency and guest comfort:
- Solar Energy Installation: A total of 138 solar panels were installed, generating 3726 kWp, allowing the hotel to harness renewable energy and reduce its reliance on the electrical grid.
- Efficient Lighting: An LED lighting system with sensors was implemented to adjust lighting based on the presence of people, helping save energy.
- Climate Control and Hot Water Systems: Old oil-fired boilers were replaced with efficient condensing boilers, and 32 thermal solar panels were installed to support the heating of sanitary water, reducing the consumption of fossil fuels.
Sustainable Design and Responsible Use of Resources
The hotel's design also focuses on sustainability:
- Natural and Recycled Materials: The furniture in the rooms and common areas has been updated using natural materials such as recycled wood, natural fiber rugs, and decorations made with recycled wood sculptures.
- Water Conservation: All hotel toilets have a dual-flush system, and faucets are equipped with aerators to reduce water consumption. Additionally, showers have replaced bathtubs to minimise water usage.
- Pools and Gardens: The pools use salt chlorinators to reduce the use of chemicals, and the gardens are designed with plants adapted to the local climate, minimising the need for excessive watering.
Sustainable Operations and Waste Reduction
The hotel has implemented several operational practices to promote sustainability:
- Eco-Friendly Amenities: Bathroom products are provided in Eco Pump containers, reducing plastic and packaging waste.
- Recycling and Waste Reduction: A recycling system has been established in all hotel departments, and paper directories have been eliminated, replaced by tablets in the rooms.
- Donations and Reuse: At the end of each season, lost items and bedding and towels that can no longer be used by guests are donated to Caritas.
