7 plans for Ibiza in September
If you’re planning a trip to Ibiza in September, we want to share with you these seven plans for your stay, whether it’s a three to four-day romantic getaway or a full week for an end-of-summer holiday.
Spend a day on Ibiza’s eastern beaches
One of the benefits of staying in the area of Es Canar, home to our modern hotel, is having several beaches and coves nearby. You can start off with Es Canar’s very own beach before heading off to Cala Nova and Cala Llenya, or heading in the opposite direction towards Cala Martina. Each has its own vibe and, depending on the day, you can either spend a few hours by the sea or have a swim and a stroll along the coast.
September is also a good month to enjoy a beach day without having to cram all your activities into only a few hours of the day. A morning swim followed by a quiet lunch and a stroll in the afternoon means you can make the most of the day. Also, from Hotel Anfora you can alternate trips to the coast with time chilling at the pool and hotel.
Browse street markets and local arts and crafts
Street markets are part of the sightseeing and cultural identity of the eastern side of Ibiza and they’re still a great option in September. The Hippy Market of Punta Arabí, in Es Canar, is a pleasant stroll away from Hotel Anfora and it’s set up on Wednesdays. At their stalls you’ll find crafts, clothes, ornaments, local products and other items by designers and creators.
Another historic street market in Ibiza is only a short drive from our hotel: Las Dalias. Located on the outskirts of Sant Carles, its fine choice of stalls includes all kinds of arts and crafts, from sculptures made with recycled materials to jewellery, typical food products, fashion, accessories, leather items... In September, Las Dalias market is on Saturdays (10am-8pm) and its night version is on Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays (7pm-11.30pm).
Go for a walk along the coast
When the temperatures are milder than during the hottest summer months, it’s such a pleasure to go for walks in Ibiza. You can choose between a long hike or a shorter coastal walk that will give you time to spend the rest of the day on the beach or have lunch at one of the eastern villages on the island. On the visitsantaeulalia.com website, you’ll find all the walks available in our area, from walks for beginners to trails for more experienced hikers. And if you’d rather explore the island by bike, you’ll also find wonderful bike trails to discover the natural and cultural heritage of eastern Ibiza.
Save some time to visit Santa Eulària
Santa Eulària des Riu is only a few miles from Es Canar and is a place where you can go for a stroll, eat, go shopping or visit some of its places of interest, like Puig de Missa, the historic buildings that are home to the Ethnographic Museum of Ibiza Can Ros and one of the best examples of a fortified church in Ibiza. The path down by the river called La Ruta del Río, the promenade and Sala Barrau are some other places worth exploring when you visit the village of Santa Eulària
Make the most of the mild weather to do water sports
In September you can still do water sports like kayaking, paddleboarding, sailing, snorkelling, scuba diving and boat trips. The eastern coast of Ibiza offers a wide range of activities for those who like to combine resting on a sun lounger with more adventurous options that are fun and keep your body active. If you’d like suggestions for water sports on the eastern coast of Ibiza or would like us to recommend adventure organisers, ask our front desk and we’ll help you organise your perfect plan for water fun.
Each day, a new flavour
September is a good time to continue enjoying the terraces, restaurants and beach bars in Ibiza. If you're staying on the eastern coast, you’ll find many traditional beach bars and charming restaurants to get a taste of the island flavours during your holidays in September. Mid-October many restaurants do close until the next summer, but you still get to enjoy all the different food options in September.
If you’re staying with us, Hotel Anfora has a wide variety of food, from refreshing proposals to eat by the pool to special dishes made with in-season ingredients to end the day looking like the cat that got the cream. If you’re excited to learn about what’s simmering in Hotel Anfora’s kitchen, check out post A hotel in Ibiza that is tasted (too).
Plan a free day
It may seem weird to block “free time” during your holiday plans in Ibiza, but filling up all your days from morning till evening is not always the best strategy. During the last month of the summer, you can improvise and combine outings around the island with more chilled days where the hotel and Es Canar hog the limelight. Imagine: a peaceful breakfast, relaxing by the pool, a swim in the sea before coming back for lunch, siesta in your room or on a Balinese bed, time reading, sitting in the hot tub, dinner, a last stroll and a cocktail to toast the end of the day. Sounds good, right?
What’s the weather like in Ibiza in September?
September temperatures are still good to enjoy outdoor activities and time on the beach. Statistics show that Ibiza in September has an average temperature of 23.8ºC, with highest and lowest temperatures within the range of 27.7ºC to 19.9ºC on average. But remember to check the weather report before arranging outings and water sports in case we're expecting the occasional summer storm or downpour. So remember to pack a light jacket or cardigan with your summer clothes for cooler evenings and comfortable footwear if you’re planning to go for walks.
